HX5 is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join the team atPeterson Space Force Base, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The CD Radar Division is a small team responsible for all aspects ofoperations, maintenance, and sustainment of the COBRA DANE Radar locatedon Shemya Island, AK.The team is responsible for managing over $360M through the next four yearsto support continuing operations of the system.The COBRA DANE Systems Engineer will provide critical technical support tovarious Government Integrated Product Teams supporting select systemmodernization efforts.
Support the definition, planning, organization, network engineering andopportunity management efforts across executing CD contracts as well as forthe activities associated with US Space Force AcquisitionsAssess and manage resources in projects and project activities for SpaceSystems Command CD Program OfficeParticipate in all engineering activities required to deliver mission criticalinfrastructure and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance,and security for CD data deliverySupport engineering efforts in all aspects of project activities to includeresources, requirements, and configuration managementReview and collaborate engineering changes and coordinate with change ownersand technical leadsIdentify and recommend system integration technical and programmatic detailsfor incorporation into relevant program documentation as required, such asPerformance Work Statements, Statements of Work, and Integrated MasterScheduleAssess program design and viability from a technical perspectiveCoordinate Government activities and contractor, sub-contractor, andvendor oversight efforts throughout the system life cycleProvide technical and acquisition support to Government and contractormilestone reviews to assess progress, issues, and requirements traceabilityPrepare technical responses and briefings in support of System RequirementsReviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, andTechnical Interchange Meetings via VTC, telecom or in-person meetingsPrepare technical agendas, slide presentations, and invite attendeesCoordinate with the CD Program Office Leadership and Chief Engineer toevaluate the effectiveness of engineering design and engineering changeprocesses and proceduresInform and advise higher-level management on critical project changes andmitigationsParticipate in the review and approval process for all Change Requests,Configuration Control Boards, Design Reviews, and Joint Engineering ReviewBoardsMonitor the configuration, installation, testing and maintenance ofoperating systems, application software and system management toolsSupport installation, integration, testing, and maintenance of selectelectronics hardware, IT systems, operating systems, and Mission Systemsupport equipmentIdentify, evaluate, and provide solutions for issues in CD program officeengineering processes, including design of systems, hardware, softwareand network upgrades, and system maintenanceLiaise with vendors and other Prime Contractor personnel for problemresolutionAssess Prime Contractor-provided interface control documentation10 years or more experience with Phased Array Radars, Missile DefenseNetworks, Space Domain Awareness (Formerly Space Situational Awareness)or other related space systemsNetwork Engineering BackgroundProduct Lifecycle Management tool experience - prefer ARAS toolfamiliarizationFamiliarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) - Po icy, Procedures andsystems architectureFamiliarity with interface control documentationFamiliarity with Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)Familiarity with hardware engineering concepts and associated MilitaryStandards
Salary: The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $119,600.Education and Experience:Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
Bachelor of Science degree, in an Engineering discipline or related field ofstudy 5 years or more experience in Phased Array Radars, Missile DefenseNetworks, Space Domain Awareness (Formerly Space Situational Awareness)or other related Space systems.Master's degree in an Engineering disciplinePosition Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexiblework schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.This position does offer hybrid flexibility for current Colorado residentsonly.
