Systems Integration Engineer

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Integration Engineer, you will be trusted to work on designing, coding, testing, and documenting new systems or enhancements to existing systems. In this role, a typical day will include:
The Systems Integration Engineer will be responsible for managing data flows for a wide range of devices.
Utilize Apache NiFi and Python to maintain and engineer data flows to meet customer requirements.
Build out Grafana dashboards to visualize the data flow metrics and infrastructure status.
Responsible for interfacing with various API endpoints as well as maintaining holistic diagrams of each data flow.

Develop and sustain intricate data flows from a multitude of sources leveraging Apache NiFi.
Devise innovative approaches for intricate data manipulation challenges utilizing Python.
Employ Apache NiFi and custom Python scripts to retrieve data from remote APIs, modify the data, and then distribute it according to customer requirements.
Transform legacy Java implementations into holistic Python solutions, leveraging modern libraries to achieve equivalent functionality.
Build Grafana dashboards to display data flow metrics and infrastructure status.
Engage in weekly engineering review board sessions, offering technical insights on change requests from both the internal team and clients.
Analyze current data flows for inefficiencies and propose optimized remedies.
Design secure cross-domain channels to facilitate data movement between networks of varying security levels.
Document new and existing data flows using Microsoft Visio.
Evaluate change request documentation for technical precision, sourced both internally and externally
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree
Four (4) Years of relevant experience
Skills: VMware, Oracle/SQL, Python, Bash, Perl, Java, and Linux with organizational/project management skills
TS/SCI with Polygrap
Proficient in utilizing the Linux command-line interface
Proficiency in a programming language, preferably Python.
Excellent analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
Must be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) by date of security indoctrination with any necessary. Computing Environment (CE) for certification.
Strong technical documentation abilities, with experience in creating detailed change request materials and presenting them effectively to leadership for endorsement.
Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with designing and sustaining data flows using Apache NiFi. General networking knowledge to include operation of routers, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, VPN and web proxies. Working knowledge in the design and utilization of RESTful APIs. Proficiency in managing and maintaining both Windows and Linux operating environments. Familiarity with relational SQL databases, including Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
Possess foundational knowledge of Active Directory concepts, including Organizational Units (OUs) and Security Groups
