  Role Summary/Purpose:

  The SVP, Model Risk Management role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Model Risk for Synchrony and serves as the chair of the Model Risk Oversight Sub-Committee.

  Essential Responsibilities:

  Provide strategic thought leadership regarding the Model Risk Management Framework and any necessary enhancements

  Review policies and procedures to ensure company maintains a relevant and pragmatic approach in a changing analytical / modeling environment

  Manage Model Governance and Model Validation personnel responsible for performing duties supporting SYF's Model Risk Management Framework

  Ensure that Synchrony's Model Risk is appropriately identified, measured, and reported

  Provide frequent updates to Senior Management and Regulators

  Maintain a strong working relationship with key Model stakeholders

  Escalate key issues and risks for further discussion and action, as appropriate, to the Chief Risk Officer

  Perform other duties and / or special projects as assigned

  Qualifications/Requirements:

  Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or related quantitative field is required; in lieu of a degree 14+ years experience in model development / model validation management experience in financial services, banking, or retail experience

  10+ years in model development / model validation management experience in financial services, banking, or retail experience

  Experience with one or more statistical tools including Python, R, SAS, Advanced Excel Macros, and SQL

  Detailed knowledge of SR 11-7/OCC 2011-12 and other Regulatory requirements

  Desired Characteristics:

  Self-starter, high motivation and ability to work well independently as well as motivate and energize teams

  Previous experience with Machine Learning methodologies and related applications

  Grade/Level: 15

  The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

  Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

  Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

  Eligibility Requirements:

  You must be 18 years or older

  You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
