FTE: 0.900000 Shift: Shift 1 Job Summary: The SurgicalTechnologist handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessaryduring the surgical procedure. Has an understanding of the procedurebeing performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Has thenecessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care duringthe operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance ofthe sterile field. He/she will perform other related duties as needed tomaintain department cost containment, efficiency, as well as qualityperformance. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimumof 3 years of work experience as a Surgical Technologist is required. Iscompetent in role as a Surgical Technologist and displays advancedknowledge and ability to independently perform roles and tasks relatedto the field of surgical technology. Anticipates surgeons\' needs and isacknowledged by staff as advanced in field. Ability to first assist ispreferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Completion of an accredited SurgicalTechnologist program or military Operating Room Specialist course isrequired. High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. LICENSUREDESCRIPTION: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for theHealthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is requiredwithin 90 days of hire. Certification as a Surgical Technologist ishighly preferred.
