About the Role
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to: monitoring and reporting supplier performance to Qualtech Seating Systems (QSS) management, the supplier PPAP process, managing corrective and preventative actions and encouraging continuous improvement in compliance to the QSS Quality Policy. Responsible for control plan updates as required.
Your Responsibilities
Ensure all Quality department objectives and activities are aligned to, and comply with, the Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution
Adhere to the QSS Quality Policy and IATF 16949 standard and comply with all QSS policies and procedures.
Schedule, monitor, update charts and capture internal audit activities in regard to IATF 16949 audits, layered process audits and station audits. Report findings to management on a monthly basis.
Get collective input from the cross-functional team to support QSS, Customer and IATF requirements. Work on continuous improvement by leading efforts to meet and exceed QSS goals.
Ensure vendor quality issues detected during assembly, inspection or at the Customer are captured and driven to closure on a CAR as applicable.
Monitor vendor PPAP activity for active status. Review PPAP and all supporting documentation per IATF, AIAG and QSS guidelines for accuracy and adequacy.
Represent QSS at the vendor when required. Lead trouble-shooting and other support activities to ensure prompt issue resolution. Implement containment initiatives when required.
Conduct vendor site assessments, PPM reporting & management and CS1 and CS2 containment initiatives.
Responsible for getting vendors on new programs PPAP approved. Work collaboratively with vendors on lessons learnt, APQP and PPAP issues.
Responsible for tracking supplier change management, tool move initiatives, APQP activities, PER activity, PCN review board and PPAP tracking.
Track all open vendor quality issues on an action items list and drive them to closure. Participate in Quality department meetings and report on all open issues.
Prioritize attention to vendor issues based on severity and impact. Follow up on critical opportunity vendors by SCAR, SPR, chargeback & containment initiatives.
Represent QSS with Customers, suppliers, corporate and other Magna facilities to evaluate and promote best-in-class processes.
Assist in developing & implementing a safe launch/EPC plan to support launch and production ramp-up activity. Lead compliance to meet Customer product launch requirements.
Assist in product/process benchmarking and best practices initiatives to support QSS business plan goals and objectives.
Assist in ensuring housekeeping and other 5S initiatives are always complied within quality function related areas (prototype, hold cage, inspection etc.).
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Who we are looking for
Your preferred qualifications
University degree in a quality related field or business management related study, five-ten years quality work experience in an automotive (JIT) Tier 1 manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of both.
A.S.Q.C. designation preferred.
Must be able to work in a fully computerized work environment.
Commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles with experience related to complex assemblies.
Must have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead people with excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good knowledge and understanding of IATF 16949 standards.
