Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MECHANICAL NUCLEAR INTERNAL SHOP MANAGER in the ?Mechanical Shop (Code 930), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will review, approve, and direct work operations in the execution of a project within an assigned zone of work. You will determine the total resource requirements and allocation based on schedules and work sequences. You will coordinate with inside sops, ships force and various shipyard departments for testing. You will participate with engineering development of qualitative work standards. You will study problems and ensure corrective action is taking. You will determine and provide resolution of operational and maintenance problems with shipyard personnel. You will initiate and attend meetings concerning work status, and maintain liaison with key management personnel in all shipyard departments. You will ensure all nuclear work and testing are identified and included in schedule, critical nuclear overhaul jobs are identified and designated as such, technical sequences of conduct of testing and establishing plant conditions are developed. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience implementing practical knowledge of nuclear and non-nuclear production trade and technical methods, procedures, materials and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex navy vessels, with a specialized practical knowledge of shop skilled trades practices and operations. Experience planning and coordinating complex ship repair, overhaul, and installation projects to understand scheduling, resource and qualification requirements. Experience in project management, quality control, cost control, schedule control, and work flow control techniques. Experience investigating and analyzing practices and problems and recommending effective improvements and solutions. Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with and gain the cooperation of supervisors, managers, and co-workers on complex and controversial issues. Experience applying complex fact finding, analytical, and problem solving methods and techniques.
