Job Description
The role of the Shipping Supervisor is to direct the company's shipping/distribution operations to ensure that the company's supply network is sustained and operating in an efficient and effective manner.
Leads and promotes staff to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner applying rules, regulations and policies with fair and consistent practice
Leads internal efforts in developing implementation of best practices throughout the shipping operation
Manage day to day shipping operations and measures performance for on-time, in-full delivery performance, shipping costs for all forms of transit, warehouse inventory management, warehousing productivity and quality, and workforce planning requirements
Investigates cause analysis issues for problem reconciliation and leads corrective action for complaints related to transportation, logistics handling and warehousing of shipping goods and products
Directs staff to support strategic customer care service objectives, enhance staff, team skills and competencies, and establish team performance objectives
Ensures that all carriers comply with legal, quality and safety standards.
Managed documentation of and training on production procedures and work instructions
Investigated and implement ideas for quality improvement, increased productivity, and cost reductions
Verified that all process control parameters were being documented and always followed
Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, quality control and purchasing
Define the needed skills, tools and equipment to meet shipping department objectives
Establishes standard operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipment's, handling and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current
Successfully managed production activities to meet deadlines
Maintain key performance indicators (KPI's) on rush orders, same day, and fill rate
Perform other special projects as required
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Business or Logistics is preferred
Proficiency in MS Office is expected along with SAP and DLX or similar WMS system experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be able to influence and work effectively with all levels of management and be cross-functional in the facility.
