Overview
Supervises and leads the team while working as a subject matter expert Coordinates the technical staff in a designated section of the department. Oversees technical procedures and workflow to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Responsibilities
Supervises department personnel, providing short and long term objectives by which employee performance is monitored.
Acts as a preceptor to new staff, providing instruction in job responsibilities, overseeing job performance, and offering constructive feedback during their orientation period. Provides ongoing support in career development related to business operations as staff move beyond their orientation period.
Assists in the development of team and individual goals and delivers performance feedback.
Makes recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, salary rates, and titles of employees and potential employees to management.
Collaborates with the technical staff in organizing and directing the section's workflow. Develops training, evaluates technical skills, and schedules staff.
Maintains a high level of technical skills to perform and teach all of the section procedures, and acts as a technical resource for staff. Identifies, develops, and implements new procedures.
Monitors the quality and quantity of work flow to ensure work is completed. Engages in regular rounding throughout section to judge effectiveness of workflow, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere.
Identifies areas of practice that need to be strengthened or changed.
Assesses, develops, and ensures adherence to unit competencies.
Plans and implements continuing education programs to promote a high level of technical expertise and compliance with continuing education requirements.
Identifies, modifies, develops, and drafts new policies.
Monitors QA/QI programs relevant to section and Radiology Department goals and objectives. Directs personnel in adhering to quality control procedures.
Prepares personnel budgets, operations expenses, and capital equipment. Monitors and analyzes workflow to identify areas of improvement.
Keeps abreast of changes in Federal and State regulations and current practices in the field.
Coordinates training of new employees and students.
Collaborates with RIS/PACS Manager to ensure accurate, current exam codes. Reviews exam codes on annual basis and/or as need relevant to CPT and billing changes for imaging exams.
Performs systems testing in the RIS and PACS environment.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Associate Degree with 3 years in the field (one year of which was in a leadership role) required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal skills by interacting professionally and appropriately with physicians, staff and administration.
Successful completion and graduate of an educational program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEA) as applicable.
Preferably hold advanced level certification(s) in specialty area(s) of responsibility/oversight.
Required Licensure/Certifications
BLS required within 30 days of hire
Possess active, current registration credential in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Vascular-Interventional, Magnetic Resonance, Computed Tomography, Mammography and Bone Densitometry (DXA) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Sonographers must be a graduate of an accredited program and must be registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Sonographers must hold, at minimum a Professional Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, RDMS.
Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
