Summer Intern, Manufacturing Engineer - Diagnostics

　　In addition to a project that will provide maximum experience and exposure in your desired field, the Hologic College Relations team provides opportunities to learn more about the company, network with leadership, and develop the skills needed to succeed in your future career.

　　The Manufacturing Engineering team provides support for our automated manufacturing equipment. This support ranges from solving immediate production issues, and continuous improvements, to acquiring new equipment.

　　Throughout the 10-12 weeks you'll have the opportunity to participate in the following:

　　Tube counting on flow wrap equipment. Currently, we don't have a reliable way to count if a tube makes it into our kit box

　　Work with a current Engineer on designing and implementing a way to verify all tubes make it to our kit boxes. They are responsible for learning about the equipment, learning how to integrate sensors in a system, and making engineering studies to test ideas

　　We're looking for bright, inquisitive problem solvers who strive to make a difference. Key qualifications include the following:

　　Able to work full-time over the summer months (May-August)

　　Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and have at least one semester remaining to complete after the internship

　　Rising Junior or Rising Senior

　　Majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Bioengineering preferred

　　Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.2/4.0

　　Strong written and verbal communication skills

　　Experience or exposure to working with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Solidworks, Minitab/Matlab/JMP

　　Exposure to PLC's or microcontrollers a plus

　　Ability to work onsite at our San Diego campus. Intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends are not provided.

　　The hourly pay range for this role is $19 - $25 per hour. Compensation is determined by class standing and operational function.
