  THE POSITION

  Do you want to utilize your experience and make a positive impact on the lives of the older population of Luzerne County? The Luzerne County Area Agency on Aging is looking to hire a compassionate, patient, and professional individual to join our team. This position gives you the opportunity to coordinate nutrition programs and activities for the older residents of the community. We are looking for someone who will be able to assist us in continuing to work on our mission of enhancing the quality of life for all mature adults by encouraging independence, promoting healthy lifestyles, and ensuring safety and protection throughout their life journey.   DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As a Senior Center Operator 1, you will be responsible for coordinating nutrition programs and activities within the center's operations, completing forms for membership and attendance at the center, and providing information on the services the agency and community has to offer. You will be maintaining the center's equipment and ensuring appropriate set-up for the center's functions, as well as maintaining accurate records, statistical reports, and inventory of the center's supplies. You will have the opportunity to ensure the welfare of the participants on trips and assist them with any unusual situation(s) that may arise.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment

  Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities;or

  Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Schuylkill, Sullivan or Wyoming counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
