About Subrogation Case Manager

  Job Description:

  The Subrogation Case Manager serves as a critical member of the Subrogation team in pro-actively pursuing SelectHealth's right of recovery in subrogation and third-party situations to maximize recovered dollars and to determine the appropriate course of action in accidental, medical malpractice, and occupational injury claims, negotiate resolutions and resolve assigned Subrogation cases. This role requires a high-level understanding of the applicable legal and regulatory standards that must be applied to each case, while aligning with Intermountain's mission.

  This position is remote with flexible hours

  Determines liability, confirms subrogation potential, and maximizes recoveries by negotiating and then facilitating the settlement of Select Health’s Subrogation cases. Provides quality case handling throughout the case life cycle (customer contacts, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution) including maintaining full compliance with internal and external quality standards and state specific regulations.

  Serves to administer and communicate Select Health’s position regarding contract exclusions and subrogation provisions while maintaining close working relationships with Select Health's internal operations and legal departments to ensure that Select Health is providing the most effective subrogation services. May be assigned additional responsibilities that include coordinating with various departments.

  Negotiates subrogation recoveries with responsible parties, their carriers, and other legal representative and attorneys to obtain maximum recovery of benefits paid in accordance with contract language and provides support for complex cases and issues. Attends depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials, and all other legal proceedings, as required for individual cases.

  Communicates effectively while leading change and building relationships based on trust and service excellence in a team environment

  Maintains documentation while reviewing and proactively updating it to ensure it accurately reflects the process, and related policies and practices.

  Attends and/or presents at roundtable discussions for collaboration of technical expertise resulting in optimal resolution. Acts as a problem solver by utilizing available resources to research, facilitate, and resolve policy and procedural issues.

  Acts as a subject matter expert and is available as a resource for peers within the subrogation process.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree in business related field. Education must be obtained through an accredited

  institution. Degree will be verified.

  Or -

  Three years’ experience in related business field that includes one or more of the following: legal experience, insurance experience, investigation experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  and -

  Demonstrated attention to detail skills and ability to work with minimal supervision to plan work assignments and manage time effectively to meet established deadlines, manage a high-volume case load

  and –

  Demonstrated flexibility and competency in the management of competing priorities, while also being able to work with a team and within a team environment.

  and -

  Demonstrated critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze and then make independent decisions for case handling and problem resolution within the scope of assigned cases and scope of authority

  and -

  Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, strong analytical ability, organization skills, investigation skills,

  and -

  Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal personnel, as well as providers, members, attorneys, and any other involved parties

  and -

  Demonstrated intermediate computer literacy, including word processing and spreadsheet experience.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Certified Professional Coder

  Demonstrated intermediate ability and working knowledge of coding and related issues.

  Physical Requirements:

  Manual dexterity, hearing, seeing, speaking.

  The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  $26.45 - $41.66
