The OpportunityUlteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Subconsultant LeadEngineer. This role will focus on supporting Ulteig's growth insubconsultant partnerships and will report directly to the EngineeringSupervisor - Subconsultants. The Subconsultant Lead Engineer develops andreviews utility substation drawings, including (but not limited too)General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, GroundingPlans, AC/DC Schematics, Panel Elevations, Electrical EquipmentEnclosure Plans, Wiring Diagrams, Specifications, and Reports to ensurethat they are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineeringpracWhat You'll DoThe Subconsultant Lead Engineer acts as a technical leader and appliesstandard engineering techniques and procedures on moderately complex projects.Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates detailed phases ofassigned project work. Makes design recommendations, adaptations andmodifications for utility substations. Performs calculations using engineeringformulas and skills. Involved in the resolution of design problems, whichmay include performing field investigation or observation, detailed designwork and detailed quality control (QC) review of design calculations.Coordinates specific design aspects of a project requiring the ability toplan, schedule, conduct, and communicate work with team members. Providetechnical guidance to other engineers, including subconsultant partners.What We Expect from YouBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. ABET accreditedprogram or equivalent required.PE License strongly preferred. Ability to obtain within 1 year required.6+ years of experience in the Power Engineering fieldEffective leadership and mentoring skills.Oversight, leadership, and quality review of subconsultant engineeringdesign and project scheduling.Excellent verbal and written communications, time management,interpersonal, and organizational skills.Capable of leading complex substation projects with a multidiscipline teamfrom full scope estimating and proposals, through detailed design, tocommissioning and construction support for energization.On site commissioning and/or construction support a plus.Prior experience with physical, protection & control, and/orcivil/structural design of electrical power substations required.Capable of reviewing and producing design drawings, including GeneralArrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans,Physical Connection Details, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagramsAbility to perform AC & DC substation studiesExperience using ground grid modeling software a plusKnowledge of substation protection and control schemes a plusKnowledge of basic relay settings, National Electric Code (NEC),National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and Rural Utilities Service(RUS) design guide a plusHigh level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projectswith clear expectations and highly responsive, internally and externallyProven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards.Must have permanent authorization to work in US.Travel 10-15%As you consider applying for a position at Ulteig, we encourage you to thinkoutside the box - because we do!
