About STUDENT TRAINEE (CONTRACTING)

  Summary THIS IS A YEAR-ROUND INTERNSHIP AND NOT SEASONAL. To be eligible for the Pathways Intern Program, individuals must have been accepted for enrollment or be enrolled during the current (Winter 2023) or next upcoming semester (Spring 2024) and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in an accredited/qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis. Base Salary Ranges (See Education Section): GS-02: $34,803 - $41,985 GS-03: $35,499- $43,590 GS-04: $36,224 - $47,088 Responsibilities As a participant in the Pathways Intern Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position. Serve as trainee in contracting working closely with team leader and supervisor in a training capacity on assigned tasks. Observe and assist contract specialists to develop skills in contracting. Perform a variety of limited technical tasks designed to familiarize the incumbent with regulatory guidelines, terminology, procedures and techniques of the government. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications THIS IS A YEAR-ROUND INTERNSHIP AND NOT SEASONAL* Clarification: An appointment under a Pathways Internship is intended to continue through completion of education and work requirements. Pathways Interns qualify based on their educational achievements. GS-02: Completion of high school or GED diploma. GS-03: Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study. GS-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. Qualification requirements must be met within 30 days after the submission of your application.** Education To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html). Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services at the time of application. To be eligible for the Pathways Internship Program, you must submit unofficial/official transcripts with the current enrollment period (Winter 2023) course load and/or proof of enrollment for Spring 2024. The absence of this information will result in an ineligible rating. Additional Information A one year probationary or trial period may be required. In accordance with Agency policy, this position is eligible for remote work within the local commuting area of the duty location(s) listed in this announcement. Salary will be determined based on the duty location after selection. The salary listed reflects the 2023 General Schedule Base scale. Salary will be adjusted to meet the locality pay of the duty location upon selection. Management has the prerogative to select at any grade level. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination This recruitment may provide non-competitive promotion opportunities to target positions that may extend to the GS-9 level without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management. However promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of a promotion is implied. At management discretion this position maybe converted to permanent position within 120 days of successful degree completion. Conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed for participants and is dependent (among other things) on the employee's successful completion of the Agency student-program requirements.
