Responsibilities As a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Field Representative, at the full performance level you will perform the following duties: Responsible for directing, implementing, coordinating and overseeing a major segment of Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), i.e., providing technical assistance and direct support to colleges and universities relative to SEVP certification/recertification; Promotes and assists schools in obtaining and maintaining data integrity in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS); Assists colleges and universities through explanation, training and research of issues with respect to SEVP related policies, rules and regulations; Conducts site visits at schools, interviews school officials for the purpose of determining direct knowledge of SEVP and SEVIS, conducts records reviews, and provides general assistance to schools with SEVIS/SEVP interaction; Ability to work from a home "virtual" office using the latest technologies and reporting procedures. You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Possess extensive knowledge of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) mission and operations; AND Possess demonstrated experience in applying SEVP regulations, practices and policies; AND Possess demonstrated experience interpreting SEVP regulations and policies and provide direct guidance to an Office of International Programs at an academic institution and/or to nonimmigrant international students. You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Possess extensive knowledge of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program(SEVP) mission and operations and demonstrated experience in applying its regulations, practices and policies; AND Possess demonstrated experience interpreting SEVP regulations and policies and providing direct guidance to an Office of International Programs at an academic institution and/or to nonimmigrant international students. AND Possess demonstrated hands-on experience, including accessing the SEVIS database on a regular basis, working with an Office of International Programs at an academic institution and/or to nonimmigrant international students. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Education Additional Information These are non-bargaining unit positions. Salary: The salary range indicated in this announcement reflects the lowest and highest potential salaries for this position. The actual salary range will be based on the applicable locality pay for the selected duty location. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages. Promotion Potential: When promotion potential is shown, the agency is not making a commitment and is not obligated to provide future promotions to you if you are selected. Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.
