Greet visitors to office, and make visitors feel welcome. General office filing, scanning, keeping paper in copier, fax machine, printers, manage incoming phone calls and voicemail messages assisting with maintenance of office equipment, maintaining an organized and professional work space (main office, lounge, media center and break room). Complete copying projects, both internally and through outside vendors. Distribute and send out mail, arrange for courier pickups. Word processing. Provide support for event, meeting, and educational program planning, including, room scheduling; arranging for food/refreshments for office workshops, trainings, and events. Additional tasks assigned as needed. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Minnesota (work-study award required). Proficient with Mac computers/iOS, Google Suite (Google Drive, Gmail, Sheets, Google Docs, etc.), and Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as scanning, copying and printing. Knowledge and understanding of office operations and services, including but not limited to phone etiquette, filing, and receptionist duties. Independently motivated with a willingness to learn new skills and technical tools as directed. Ability to interact appropriately with diverse groups. Ability to work well both independently and under direction of a supervisor. Strong organization skills and proactiveness. Preferred Qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience using a copy machine, scanner, fax, and multi-line telephone. Experience with digital storytelling. Some graphic design/communications experience (social media, print media esp. Adobe Photoshop). Organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Flexible, detail-oriented team player; use of creativity to problem-solve, and ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. Strong service orientation. Experience in administrative office work/training beyond high school. About the Department The Department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies is seeking one Student Office Assistant to assist with day-to-day operations in an active office environment. The position will entail providing general customer service, office support and advising support. Hours will vary according to availability.
