Professional (+) (Fixed Term)Time Type:Part timePosition Term:12 MonthPosition Details:Summary of Duties:WSU Tri-Cities Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is funded with federal funds by the Department of Education whose purpose is to increase the number of low-income and underrepresented students who graduate from high school and successfully complete post-secondary education.The Academic Specialist has responsibility for using professional judgement and skills to increase GEAR UP students' academic performance through direct tutoring and developing student's positive academic behaviors and non-cognitive skills; mentoring and advising students to increase college and career readiness; guiding students with college and career exploration, plan and supervise field trips to college campuses, work as a team with GEAR UP staff, classroom teachers, counselors, and administrators to analyze student data and use instructional tools and methodologies that are consistent with district interventions to achieve grant outcomes.The Academic Specialist will monitor, collect, and document student data for assessment and reporting requirementsThis is a temporary, 30 hour per week, 12 month position with a work location in Ephrata, WA.Required Qualifications:Positions require a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience.
