Summary
The University of Michigan Procurement Services is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Senior Strategic Sourcing Analyst. In this role, you will drive value through strategic sourcing and campus relationship management processes. We seek a highly analytical and self-driven professional with a proven ability to collect and analyze data, draw meaningful conclusions, present findings to influence decisions, and proficiently track and manage performance metrics.
The senior strategic sourcing analyst must thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while consistently meeting business performance measures. This includes adhering to timelines for sourcing activities and planning for our business units' future sourcing needs. This position reports to the assistant director of procurement technology and analytics.
Responsibilities*
Utilize raw data to develop comprehensive spend analysis models, leveraging tools such as spreadsheets, data organization, and graphical representations to identify cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities.
Create insightful reports and presentations covering critical business measures, including supplier performance, spend analytics, and market trends.
Collaborate on business case development for strategic sourcing opportunities.
Gather and compile market intelligence to support strategic sourcing objectives.
Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Demonstrate effective communication skills, fostering strong internal and external relations and proactively resolving issues.
Required Qualifications*
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or three to five years of experience in an analytics position.
Proficiency in defining problems, collecting and analyzing data, establishing facts, and drawing well-supported conclusions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with advanced data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar software.
Critical and analytical thinking skills.
Knowledge of procurement/ERP software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Jaggaer, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to complete projects and tasks with minimal oversight and direction.
Desired Qualifications*
Professional certifications related to procurement, supply chain, or data analysis, such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP).
Experience working in a higher education or large, complex organization, understanding the unique challenges and dynamics within this environment.
Contract negotiation and management experience with proven success in supplier negotiations.
Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing practices, with a commitment to integrating these principles into the sourcing process.
