Stormwater Superintendent
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering, oversees stormwater maintenance and capital improvement projects. Ensures compliance with MS4. Collaborates with engineering team to enhance stormwater infrastructure, complete BMP inventories, stream monitoring, and outfall inspections. Responds to emergency stormwater requests. Supports construction inspection staff as needed.
Manage and lead a stormwater maintenance crew, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective stormwater management operationsWork with engineers, coordinate, and oversee stormwater management projects within the city including: project scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control to ensure projects are completed on time and within budgetEnsure strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to stormwater management. Stay up to date with evolving regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain complianceConduct routine inspections of stormwater facilities and systems to assess their condition and functionality. Identify issues and areas requiring maintenance or repair.Develop and implement comprehensive stormwater maintenance and inspection programs including scheduling routine checks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring corrective actions are taken promptlyWork collaboratively with engineering and design teams to develop and refine stormwater infrastructure plans. Provide valuable insight and recommendations to improve stormwater systemsMaintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to stormwater management activities. Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely mannerBe prepared to respond to stormwater-related emergencies and incidents swiftly and efficiently.Coordinate with relevant authorities and teams to mitigate potential risks and address emergency situations effectively.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in stormwater management or related field with three years of supervisory experience. ; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience ? Strong knowledge of stormwater regulations and best practices.Excellent leadership and team management skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to develop and implement stormwater maintenance programs.Proficiency in stormwater software and data management tools.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Valid driver's license.Must have TN Level 1 erosion control certification achieve and TN Level II erosion control certification within sixth months (dependent upon class availability) to maintain job classification.Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are required.
