What does a successful Storage Engineer do at Fiserv?
Storage Engineer is responsible for leading multiple assignments and critical projects in delivering standard/custom, supportable infrastructure technology solutions based on architectural standards, new technology roadmaps and business requirements as it relates to storage engineering. In addition, engineer is focused on documenting the procedures.
What you will do:
· Plans and conducts assignments involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project at a time.
· Oversees progress and evaluates results. Leads or direct projects.
· Act in liaison capacity with other departments, divisions & organizations
· Operates with latitude for un-reviewed action or decision
· Assist in prioritization of technical and business unit partner activities and projects
· Work with storage engineering team and/or outside consultants in architecting and designing enterprise storage solutions within business and commercial guidelines
· Provides input into budget
· Improve enterprise quality and availability of storage engineered infrastructure components. Continue to simplify, review, deploy and further improve: Automation of repeatable tasks and processes, alerting, monitoring, maintenance, backup recovery and business continuity/disaster recovery process.
· Manages incident/issue problem resolution in coordination with internal teams or external vendors
· Assist in Improving storage engineering team productivity and execution with continued deployment of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) common processes, interfaces, tools and automation
· Provide regular status updates to multiple levels of management and staff
· Work with other leaders to create, measure, and report progress towards established key performance metrics
· Develops and managing vendor relationships
Technical Leadership Skills capable of supporting the following:
· Engineering experience with large scale, complex, multi-gigabyte Data Center storage solutions; Practical experience with cloud provider solutions and on and off premises integration related to storage offerings
· Define and gather requirements related to automation efforts and solutions
· Management and maintenance of data storage solutions, utilizing IBM DS8K enterprise class storage, EMC PowerMax, Unity arrays, Pure, InfiniDat, EMC Isilon or NetApp NAS, and SAN fabric (Cisco, Brocade) infrastructure. Persistent storage experience for Kubernetes, Containers a plus.
· SAN switch technology management, storage provisioning, LUN masking, zoning, performance management, and volume management
· Ongoing operation of key storage solution products from multiple vendors: such as PowerPath, Unisphere, SRDF, Recover Point, VPLEX, Storage Resource Manager (SRM), IBM Spectrum, InfiniDat InfiniMetrics
· Storage Cyber ransomware solutions and integration experience a plus
What you need to have:
· 10 years of experience in storage architecture, engineering, or operational domains
· Excellent technical, functional, verbal and written communication skills
· Works well in a team environment and has proven team management ability
· Strong interpersonal communication skills and customer-support focused attitude
· Proven ability to provide leadership across multiple sites and geographic areas
· Must be flexible and have the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects or tasks
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
· Keen attention to detail
What would be great to have:
4-year college degree + 8 years of experience in applicable field OR Advanced degree in applicable field + 6 years of relevant experience
