* This position is a stipended position and is only open to current employees whose current job status allows them to participate in these opportunities.* Reports to: Family Resources Specialists team at OMME Location: Josiah Quincy Elementary School 885 Washington St, Boston, MA 02111 Position overview: Boston Public Schools Office of Multilingual and Multicultural Education (OMME) seeks a few BPS teachers/paraprofessionals/managerial staff to work as activity providers at the Lunar New Year event on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at Josiah Quincy Elementary School 885 Washington St, Boston, MA 02111. Activity Providers will oversee the students' safety and activities, assisting them in arts & crafts, Chinese singing, and Chinese dancing activities to celebrate the traditional cultural Chinese holidays! RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and create a full schedule of lesson plan activities to teach students about Chinese traditional dancing, Chinese singing, Chinese calligraphy, photography, and arts & crafts related to the Lunar New Year and perform these activities on 2/17/2024. Self-organize school students to train and perform the event Balance your instruction between logical and social exercises Provide activities materials as needed. Collaborate with other colleagues and OMME staff Cooperate with ML Parent Team staff to plan logistics and identify materials and resources to be used during the 3-hour celebration Adhere to providing standards and safety regulations as established by Boston Public Schools Set up before the event and clean up at the end of the event Provide Chinese cultural activities experiences like Chinese songs, dance, calligraphy, photography, arts and crafts, etc. during the event. EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent knowledge of training students for group performances with activities. Experience teaching Chinese cultural activities in Boston Public Schools Strong communication and time management skills Ability to work and stand for extended periods Highly experienced teachers or BPS paraprofessionals, BPS staff must speak Chinese Know Chinese traditional culture and activities Experience with developing and implementing activities Experience with engaging students in Chinese dance, Chinese singing, Chinese traditional artwork QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED: Must speak a second language (Chinese) Prior experience working at Boston Public Schools Job Type: 3 BTU rate positions and 2 Flat stipend positions.
