Responsibilities Serving as a Statistician GS-1530-13 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Business Integration Office (BIO), Business Analysis Office (BAO), under the Director Office (DO), and located at any Training Delivery Point (TDP). The position serves as a Statistician as an expert advisor to individuals involved in data assessment, program evaluation, research projects, testing and training-related evaluation. Typical assignments include: Conducts comprehensive studies to assess the consistency and adequacy of statistical analysis, from both regulatory and scientific perspectives. Defines critical problems, advises management of alternatives to correct problems found, and designs methods to implement necessary program changes. Prepares and presents summaries and analyses of data to include tables, graphs, or other fact sheets that describe the techniques used and results. Writes reports detailing data collection, development and subsequent results and findings. Prepares and presents coordinated results to Senior Management, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), peers, and/or other interested parties. Facilitates cross functional teams of instructors, program specialists, training research analysts, management personnel, etc., to define outcome needs, make decisions related to study design, define data management requirements, define potential statistical analysis methods, and identify specific reporting requirements. Consults with SMEs, management staff, and other researchers in order to identify potential sources of information, obtain information required, determine needs, and/or specific requirements parameters related to the population to be sampled. Successful completion of a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) which included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR B. A combination of education and experience which includes courses in statistics (or in mathematics and statics), plus appropriate experience or additional education. I have appropriate experience which includes a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. In addition to the requirements in A or B applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-12 in the federal service applying statistical techniques to analyze data to develop predictive and calibration models and employing data visualization techniques in order to present results of analysis to varied audiences (e.g., staff analysts, the public, and executives).
