　　Summary

　　The purpose of this position is to fill in as a relief engineer when needed. The responsibilities include operating the boiler house in compliance with safe operating procedures and environmental conditions.

　　The operator is required to work an 8 hrs shift on a per diem as needed schedule. This includes weekends, weekdays and Holidays to fill in for in house engineers as needed.

　　Job Description:

　　The Blue Seal Steam Boiler Operator is expected to operate and monitor the boiler house operations in conjunction with other plant staff

　　Monitor boiler plant equipment to ensure proper operation and identify developing trends

　　Bring boilers on-line and off-line in a safe, proficient and environmental manner

　　Understand and perform boiler water chemistry testing

　　Add and mix chemicals as needed

　　Wear proper PPE as required

　　Perform safety and boiler environmental inspections

　　Monitor and maintain operating levels in equipment

　　Perform additional tasks as required

　　Backwash and regenerate water softeners

　　Add salt to brine tank

　　Take hourly equipment readings and log in sheets

　　Requirements:

　　Education

　　High School graduate or equivalent

　　Must possess a State of New Jersey Blue Seal Steam Boiler Operator License

　　Experience

　　Valid drivers license

　　Minimum of two-four years experience in a Blue Seal Operated Power plant

　　To communicate work related issues along with recommended solutions to your Chief Engineer or supervisor in a timely and professional manner

　　Physical Requirements

　　Ability to perform manual tasks including but not limited to operation of hand and power tools

　　Ability to lift at least 50 lbs

　　Ability to work with and wear respiratory protection

　　Ability to communicate clearly with plant personnel, including the ability to give and receive instructions over a radio

　　Ability to see clearly; safely and readily identifying the labels, gauges, dials and indicators typically encountered in performing job duties

　　Ability to work outside of a normal shift rotation during call-outs or planned maintenance outages
