OverviewWe are seeking four energetic creative student counselors to join our Startalk Mandarin Program team. The on-site day counselor will be responsible for creating and conducting students' activities during the camp in a Mandarin Chinese speaking environment.
ResponsibilitiesThe working hour will be 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. This on-site day counselor position requires basic Mandarin Chinese reading and speaking skills. The Counselor Team will design activities, play with students and consult. USU Startalk is an NSA-funded program.
Applicants must be available to reside in the USU dorm in Logan, Utah during the camp dates: July 08 - July 19, 2024. (lunch will be provided) The main tasks include, but are not limited to:The counselors need to be available during the training and the entirety of the camp from 07/07/2024 2:00 PM to 07/19/2024 12:00 PM, including Saturday and Sunday in Logan, UT (participants arrive on 07/07, students check out on 07/19 noon, no class).Prior tasks: training, activities planning / Post task: submitting a camp report.Tasks during the camp: participating in team meetings, designing group games, and organizing activities during the camp. Games and activities should align with our theme: AI and technology, along with some sports, fine art, and leisure activities.
Compensation for camp counselors: Camp day counselors will be paid $2,112 total for the two weeks of camp. No benefits.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese with students at least 80% of the time.Excellent English communication skills.Basic video editing and social media posting skills.Ability to effectively communicate with students and colleagues.Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.The job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.Preferred Qualifications:
Multimedia lover: enjoy using social media, short video, photos.
An expert of teen group games and activities.Any talent applying to work with high school students in activities will be a plus: basketball, volleyball, instrument, singing, dancing, drawing etc.Experience using AI tools and Ed Tech apps.Enjoyment of outdoor or group activities with students.KSA (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
