JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Medical College of Wisconsin -Central WI Location: Wausau, WI Standardized Patient Program PositionTitle: Standardized Patient Job Summary: Standardized Patients aretrained to accurately and consistently recreate the history,personality, physical findings, and emotional structure and responsepattern of an actual patient at a point in time; assess/document learnerperformance; provide individualized feedback on clinical andinterpersonal skills; and represent patient satisfaction. Additionaltraining is provided to select Standardized Patient to teach and refinephysical examination skills in which the Standardized Patient uses theirown body as the model. Job Responsibilities: Responsibilities includesimulating a patient case, instructing and assessing health providers atmultiple levels (undergraduate, post graduate and practicing providers)in clinical and communication skills. This may include grading ofphysical examination techniques. Additional responsibilities includeresponding to email messages promptly, demonstrating professionalbehavior and accountability for actions, working as a team and keepingcommitments to the SP Program. Major Duties/Critical Tasks: Simulate allaspects of the patient scenario, including history of current problem,affect/behavior and physical findings in a standardized, accurate andreliable manner Teach and assess clinical skills of medical students andother learners Accurately and consistently document skills of learners,using a computer Provide written and face-to-face verbal feedback tolearners Monitor other Standardized Patients for quality assuranceAccept ongoing feedback from supervisor and incorporate that feedbackinto case simulation. Personal and Professional Skills: Ability to workwell with a variety of people Ability to communicate clearly andeffectively with a variety of people Ability to recall an encounteraccurately for the completion of checklists and written materials duringpractice sessions and assessments which result in learner grades.Ability to be well organized in all work aspects. Ability to workeffectively as part of a team and work independently. Lack of biastowards the healthcare system. Punctuality and reliability inattendance. Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different worksituations. Comfort with their own body and examinations by healthpersonnel.
