Job Summary
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) has an opening for a full-time Staff Fund Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, the Staff/Fund Accountant will support various aspects of the financial management for Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) revenue cycles including, but not limited to, investments, retail sales, program revenues and donations.
As a Staff Fund Accountant, you will:
• provide cross departmental financial reporting oversight, including compliance, accounting and reporting for all grants, restricted donations and endowments.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing processes, the independent audit, tax returns and other regulatory filings as needed.
• Ensure transactions are in accordance with GAAP and internal polices and controls are followed; communicate exceptions to management.
• Perform other accounting functions and reporting for internal and external reporting purposes.
• Assist in the development and process re-design of grant reporting including regulatory compliance.
Job Qualifications
Here is what you will need to be successful in this role:
• College degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of three (3) plus years of previous accounting work experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word), including managing large data files utilizing excel pivot tables.
• Possess a collaborative approach and outlook; demonstrated ability to establish trust and professional relationships with staff across all levels of the organization; ability to work with divergent opinions; promote collaboration and exchange of ideas.
• Ability to handle high volume tasks; excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality.
• Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment.
• Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills, processes and software applications.
• Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness and quality of work; excellent attention to detail.
A plus if you have:
• Experience with Abilia MIP system
• Experience with CampMinder, Netsuite, Salesforce, OpSuite and Raiser’s Edge systems
