Hitch is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to help build and guide the direction of the core services that power our business. Our mission at Hitch is to create the world's most connected network of intercity travelers by leveraging the empty seats of these drivers and matching them to riders. We're creating a ride experience that's an order of magnitude better in service quality, convenience and price than buses, trains, and planes.

　　In this role you’ll work across all aspects of our backend, from API endpoints to dynamic pricing and matching algorithms. Some of the areas you’ll help improve include:

　　Dynamic pricing models that respond to real-time marketplace dynamics

　　Optimizing routes through intelligent rider/driver matching

　　Building features that scale and adapt across multiple markets

　　Providing observability that helps us make informed product decisions

　　Requirements

　　7+ years industry experience

　　Comfortable with Node.js. We use NestJS, but framework-specific experience not required.

　　Experience working with databases. We currently use Mongo with plans to migrate to PostgreSQL.

　　Experience deploying to and managing production environments

　　Experience leading projects involving multiple developers

　　Must be in Austin, TX or willing to relocate. Monday & Thursdays are in-office days; the rest are flexible.
