  Job Description

  STAFF ASSOCIATE I, ADVISING AND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION, Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC)-Office of the First Year (OFY), to develop, implement, and assess programs that are designed to facilitate the academic success, community engagement, social adjustment, and assimilation to the Institute for first-year students. Characteristic program areas include the management and coordination of orientation programs, learning strategies programming, training for orientation leaders, and major exploration programming. Responsibilities will include advising and working collaboratively with teams of students to design and implement programs that support student academic success and social adjustment; working with Admissions in coordinating specific aspects of Campus Preview Weekend; contributing to the accomplishment of the overall goals, objectives and direction of the Office of the First Year and Undergraduate Advising Center; and serving as a first-year advisor, a secondary advisor to upper-level students, and a consultant to faculty advisors.   Job Requirements

  REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least one year of academic administration experience; ability to advise a diverse group of students and work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and students; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; excellent judgment and discretion with confidential information; initiative; flexibility; and attention to detail. Must be able to multitask, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic, high-energy, and ever-changing environment. PREFERRED: master’s degree, familiarity with the undergraduate academic environment, experience developing and offering programming, and experience with large event planning and graphic arts website development and maintenance. Job #23596-6Starting salary range: $55,000 - 65,000This is a full-time, hybrid position.
