The department of Neurology is currently seeking a Staff Associate I.
Wet-lab Work
ATAC-seq protocol optimization and project
-Responsible for shipping and receiving ROSMAP (500) samples related to ATAC-seq project
-Nuclei processing and sorting of all samples
-PCR amplification and library preparation of all samples
-downstream quality control steps for all samples
-Library sample pooling and shipping for all samples
-Extensive record keeping throughout each stage: estimated project budget, inventory, manifest log, progress log, quality control data, etc.
Other Nuclei Processing Tasks
- Involvement in most other projects which require nuclei processing
- Single nuclei sequencing, and single nuclei ATAC sequencing
Bacterial transformation and molecular cloning work
-Golden Gate Cloning
-Restriction Enzyme Cloning
- Amplification of pDNA libraries
-Preparation of all relevant media: Agar plates, Ampicillin working solution, LB Broth
- Inventory of all relevant reagents
-Plasmid Purification: Maxi Prep
-Maintenance of all purified plasmids
-Making glycerol stocks / storage
-Coordinating cloning related work agendas with other members
-Maintenance of cloning progress log
Maintaining and storing current oligomer and primer pairs
-record keeping of all incoming materials from IDT
-Preparation of 100uM and 10uM working solutions from stocks
-Creating more working stocks of various concentrations if needed
Coordinating with CUT&RUN collaborators
-Processing, sorting, and delivering nuclei samples to collaborator, etc.
-General PCR/qPCR work
-Western Blot Work
-Library Construction
-Preparing/Sending samples for Sanger Sequencing, 10X, Bioanalyzer, Genewiz, and other collaborating Universities, NYGC
-Shipping/ receiving domestic shipments
P-card and Financial responsibilities
-Ordering supplies for the lab
-Reconciling purchases each month
-Maintaining limit of p-card each month
-Involvement in POs
-Any other p-card related responsibilities
Organizational Duties
-Maintains extensive log of all ATAC-seq related data
-Maintains inventory log of oligomers and primers
-Organized all protocols and shipping forms
-Coordinating wet lab agendas with other lab members
-Maintaining -20 C freezer organization
-Ability to work independently
Other duties/ responsibilities
-Coordinate equipment delivery, installations, certifications and trainings.
-Proactively mitigate laboratory issues including scheduling equipment repair for malfunctioning instruments and work orders for facilities management
-Maintain cold storage (4/-20/-80/LN) organization ensuring all laboratory needs are met.

-Maintain accurate logs of equipment use including usage by external laboratories.
-Manage CTCN supply inventory and prevent supplies shortages
-Manage and maintain vendor-facing relationships with vendor representatives.
-Provide technical training to new and rotating laboratory members for molecular biology: qpCR library quantification, library prep/pooling, nuclei processing, restriction enzyme cloning, golden gate cloning, maxi prep plasmid purification)
-Distribute domestic shipments requiring a temperature-controlled supply chain. Create and distribute sample manifests, customs invoice, and other relevant documents to involved parties.
-Manage laboratory hygiene ensuring TC waste collection, water bath, and fume hood are routinely cleaned. Specifically, TC related, cold storage related responsibilities (4/-20C) 10x responsibilities
-Ensure laboratory personnel are in compliance with safety measures such as external member occupancy and social distancing guidelines.
-Additional duties as necessary.
-Create a consistent protocol for onboarding new lab members
