About Staff Associate I

  Columbia University is looking for a temporary Staff Associate I for a NIH-funded project to study the genetics of Alzheimer's Disease in the Hispanic/Latinx population. The candidate will conduct outreach and enrollment in health and community centers, complete blood drawing and structured medical examinations, participate in conferences and events etc. When necessary, the candidate will travel to the site for completion of the blood drawing and will insure the transfer of blood to the Human Genetics Resources Core Laboratory at Columbia University or other collaborating US sites. He/she will also be trained to complete neuropsychological and family history interviews. The candidate is expected to be bilingual (Spanish and English) and will work closely with the Principal Investigators, research physicians and other clinical coordinators.

  Work with the principal Investigator and project manager to administer and prepare the medical interview forms for review during diagnostic case conferences and data entry.Complete the blood drawing and assist with blood sample processing and storage.Assist on the database maintenance cleaning.Generate automated reports to keep track of the progress of this research project, including participant enrollment, clinical tests, status of blood draws and blood processing.Contact and recruit possible participants.Assist PI with monthly meetings preparations.Additional information: this is an in-person position (Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm). We will have a weekly meeting with the PI to review the work being done as well as a weekly meeting with the senior clinical coordinator to go over day-to-day activities.

  The staff associate needs to be able to determine participants who meet criteria for the studies. She/he should be able to talk to participants without supervision, plan and execute work trips.

  Required

  Bachelor's degree in specific research field and 4 years experience preferred.Proficient in English and Spanish PhlebotomyDetail orientedGood communications skillsDesired

  The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
