Set in the Elgin, Illinois area, the company offering this long-term contract / temporary opportunity encourages innovation and rewards effort in the work place. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You'll also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, take part in compliance, and look over schedules for the reporting processes.
Your responsibilities
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting Requirements - Accounting Functions experience
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Skilled with ERP systems
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
