  01   At a Glance

  Role: Staff Accountant

  Location: Hybrid role (combination on-site and work from home). On-site work is at our USHQ in Federal Way, WA (https://maps.app.goo.gl/uS6nkGxV3avbz2sS8) . May be required to work on-site 2-3 days per week during the initial onboarding period to ensure an excellent experience. Required to work on-site the 2nd Wednesday of every month and for occasional team meetings and events. Most of the day-to-day work after onboarding can be performed remotely.

  Required experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or 8 years of equivalent work experience in accounting. Additionally, this role requires a minimum of 1 year of private/corporate or public accounting work experience. Grant experience is preferred but not required.

  Compensation: The full hourly pay range is $26.34-$39.51/hour. The typical hiring range is $28-33/hour. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity. See the “Salary Range & Benefits” section below for more details on our compensation and benefits.

  02 The Job As a Staff Accountant on the Accounting and Reporting team, you’ll join an experienced team of 7 managing the accounting for World Vision. You will perform a wide variety of regular and recurring moderately complex to complex accounting functions including establishing accounting records, maintaining the general accounting system, and recommending modifications based on new regulations or policies. You’ll also carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies, and personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word, and sign.

  Your responsibilities will include:

  Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, devotions, chapel, prayer, worship); incorporate World Vision Core Values into decisions within the scope of the role.

  Prepare regular journal entries to the general ledger.

  Provide input for financial statements and prepare, run, review, and analyze accounting reports.

  Reconcile moderately complex subsidiary ledger accounts and checking accounts. 

  Analyze, document, and review accounts. 

  Establish working relationships with business owners to understand the business trends, changes, etc. for variance analysis. 

  Communicate with customers on reconciling issues and articulate solutions.

  Prepare audit schedules requiring some research and analysis.

  Remain current and increase knowledge in related areas utilizing self-study and/or continuing professional education efforts.

  Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.

  Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.

  Perform other duties as assigned.

  · Accounting/Finance Expertise: Understands and can apply complex accounting and financial principles. Provides effective critical review of financial statements, spreadsheets, etc.

  · Analytical/Research Skills: Defines parameters of task and desired objective; gathers and synthesizes relevant data; applies reasoning to determine relationships of variables and develop recommendations. Tests assumptions, observes results.

  · Relationship Building: Easily establishes a professional rapport, growing and maintaining a network of contacts. Offers compromises as necessary to gain support and participation. Proactively contacts others, despite the risk of possible rejection.

  · Attention to Detail: Accomplishes tasks thoroughly, showing concern for all the areas involved no matter how small, at the appropriate level for the task.

  · Communication: Presents articulately. Uses effective listening skills to promote the free flow of information. Shows consistency between words and actions. Works collaboratively with others to promote consistent communication across the department.

  · Flexibility: Adapts easily to frequent change, to varied working conditions and requirements, and diverse individuals and groups. Willing to consider new ideas and approaches and apply them creatively.

  04 Education & Experience  Bachelor's degree in accounting or 8 years of related work experience in accounting. Additionally, this role requires a minimum of 1 year of private/corporate or public accounting work experience. Grant experience preferred, not required. Experience in using software including NetSuite, MS Dynamics, MS Power Automate, and MS Excel, is useful but not required.

  05 Salary Range & Benefits Your compensation and benefits are important to you so they’re important to us. The full hourly pay range for this role is $26.34-$39.51/hour. The typical hiring range is $28-33/hour. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity.
