Description If you're an experienced accountant with a knack for accuracy, Robert Half has a terrific opportunity for you to check out at an organization in the Education - University industry. As a Staff Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will have charge over many aspects of internal reporting. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. A very involved position, the Staff Accountant spends a good deal of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Petersburg, Virginia area, this company is offering a long-term contract / temporary opportunity that's sure to challenge as well as reward effort.

　　Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

　　Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process

　　Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

　　Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

　　Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management

　　Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

　　Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

　　Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner

　　Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

　　Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed Requirements - Vow to meet business deadlines

　　Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

　　Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

　　Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

　　BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

　　Experience with ERP systems

　　Account reconciliation experience desired

　　Expertise in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

　　Strong familiarity with budget management

　　Ad Hoc Financial Analysis experience

　　Budget forecasting experience

　　Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

　　Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

　　Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

　　Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

　　Recent and relevant accounting experience
