Position: Staff Accountant
Location: Edison, NJ
Job Description:
Complete month- and quarter- end close process and related responsibilities for the accounting department.
Responsible for applying, enforcing and executing GAAP revenue recognition as it relates to each entity.
Performs analysis to support reserves and other revenue and expense impacting entries.
Prepare journals entries and maintain account reconciliations consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met.
Applies professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying accounting principles that support revenue recognition.
Able to clearly articulate results, variances and demonstrate an understanding of root cause to management.
Work closely with business unit partners, accounting leads and internal/external auditors on accounting matters.
Comfortable working with cross functional teams in order to understand company offerings and implement accounting models that properly recognize revenue and expense according to accounting principles and company policy.
Streamline systems and reporting tools to ensure efficient & accurate recording and proper classification of revenue.
Participate in systems upgrades and enhancements as necessary.
Establish controls necessary to ensure that revenue forecasts, deferred revenue balances and revenue accounting execution are compliant with Intuit company policy and GAAP
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Dynamics); ERP experience preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities
Ability to take initiative, maintains confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment essential
