Located in the Elizabethtown, Kentucky region, the organization offering this long-term contract / temporary opportunity provides rewards to those who dedicate extra effort in the work place. As Staff Accountant, your duties will include preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. You'll also be involved in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.
Responsibilities
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed Requirements - Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Deep understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Solid understanding of journal entries
General ledger experience
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
