Description Robert Half is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with terrific organizational skills to take up a long-term contract / temporary position at a growing company in the Hi Tech Engineering industry. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. You will provide support in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and work alongside our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Responsibilities
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules Requirements - Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Foundational knowledge in Accounts Payable (AP)
Adeptness in journal entries
Proficiency in Prepaids
Cash reconciliations experience highly desired
Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Expertise in fixed assets
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
