Set in the Opelika, Alabama area, the company offering this contract / temporary to hire opportunity encourages innovation and rewards effort in the workplace. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

　　How you will make an impact

　　Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed

　　Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

　　Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision

　　Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

　　Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

　　Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management

　　Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

　　Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

　　Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

　　Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

　　Requirements - Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

　　Great attention to detail

　　Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

　　Self-starter and strong ethical standards

　　ERP system experience

　　Recent and relevant accounting experience

　　GAAP Accounting experience desired

　　Experience with account reconciliation

　　Strong familiarity with Yardi

　　General ledger experience

　　Bank reconciliations experience preferred

　　BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

　　Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

　　Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

　　Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

　　Competent with spreadsheets and databases
