DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Position Title: Senior Tax Accountant -- Transaction Taxes (P2)

RoleAreas of involvement include sales, use, and similar transaction-based taxes, related to purchasing and sales activities. This includes interpreting and applying the laws of all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, counties, and municipalities to activities engaged in by CCI. Position includes the use of ERP systems (JD Edwards and Oracle Fusion), transaction tax software (Vertex and Avalara), and Microsoft Office applications. Position will work closely with both Manager - Transaction Tax, and Tax Accountant -- Transaction Tax to ensure Crown's compliance with sales, use, and telecommunications tax requirements.
Responsibilities * Responsible for monthly compliance preparation by outside consultants and review of sales, use, and other transaction taxes, including reconciliations, data files, returns, and remittances. * Responding to and resolving transaction tax notices. * Registration of new business entities and reviewing nexus. * Review requested billing corrections and tax credit requests. * Responsible for setup and routine maintenance of transaction tax software and its interaction with the ERPs. * Assist Manager -- Transaction Tax with functionality and development testing on special projects. * Complete tax validation assignments related to customer billing records. * Administration of sales tax exemption certificates provided by customers and setting up exemptions in Vertex or CRM/RecVue, as appropriate. Includes maintaining the ECMS application database and soliciting customers for new certificates. * Administration of exemption certificates provided to vendors. * Research taxability of various transaction tax scenarios. * Responding to routine transaction tax questions from other departments and outside parties. * Lead or assist the Manager - Transaction Tax in transaction tax audits. * Assist with other duties and projects as needed.
Education/Certifications * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
Experience/Minimum Requirements * Four (4) to six (6) or more years of experience in transaction tax or tax related matters * Knowledge and experience with accounting systems and software * Proficient in Excel * Experience with Transaction Tax audits preferred * Experience with Vertex or Avalara helpful, but not required * Experience with data reporting and manipulation tools such as PowerBI and Alteryx a plus * Experience with ServiceNow ticketing application a plus
Expectations * Ability to work with people in an office environment * Ability to interact professionally on a daily basis with vendors, customers, and CCI business partners * Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment * Personal computer skills and application knowledge, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerBI * Ability to learn Crown Castle proprietary software

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office on Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home. There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter t at could require travel.
