  JOB SUMMARY

  Enable product teams to develop and test software solutions in an Agile-focused environment. Champion Quality Engineering (QE) principles of shift-left, customer-centricity, automation, and continual improvement to advance product development. Drive the creation and adoption of automated testing to facilitate innovation, quality, and speed to market. Partners with vendor and internal Marriott teams to provide leadership, strategy, and orchestration of key testing events to ensure that quality standards are consistently met. Provides expert guidance on test environment strategy, setup, and configuration. Coordinates with product teams and other Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET’s) to collect KPIs and metrics in-line with QE guidelines. Collaborates with platform teams to ensure tools required for testing conform to standards and help implement new solutions as required. Work with product teams to ensure integration / end-to-end test cases are identified and maintained. Serves as advocate / representative for selected business units to the QE organization.

  Expected deliverables may include: Test Strategies, Test Implementation Plans, Jira Initiatives, Epics and User Stories, presentations to Senior Management, and Marriott internal deliverables.

  CANDIDATE PROFILE

  Education and Experience

  Required:

  5+ years of IT leadership experience with a blend of deep technical knowledge and a customer-focused mindset

  8+ years’ experience in software development, test engineering, with expert-level expertise in multiple testing methodologies

  8+ years’ experience engaging highly technical architecture, engineering and operations teams and driving outcomes with QE automation

  Strong verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills

  Able to guide the implementation of BDD, TDD and related approaches to software development

  Demonstrated competency in modern development languages and frameworks

  Experience with Test Automation and DevSecOps tools (e.g., Git, JIRA, Ant, Maven, Jenkins)

  Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Graduate degree

  Technical certifications (i.e., PMP, CSTE, CSQA, Certified SAFe 5.x)

  Experience working with offshore testing organizations

  Strong knowledge of emerging tools, software, applications, and systems for attaining best-in-class IT technology across the enterprise

  Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities

  Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others of diverse backgrounds

  CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  Quality Leadership

  Mentors and coach’s product team members on QE tasks and procedures

  Functions as a working SDET where needed

  Assists in setting best practice quality procedures

  Reviews and edits product documentation

  Drives the adoption of TDD, BDD and related test-first development methodologies

  Establishes the flow of work within the quality area including code reviews

  Provides leadership and support to quality inspections

  Functions as escalation point for SDETs

  Delivering Technology

  Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for delivering automated testing processes and tools

  Enabling tooling such as Tosca, NeoLoad, Cucumber, etc.

  Facilitates CI/CD using a DevSecOps pipeline

  Validates solutions with enterprise architecture team

  Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Services Providers

  Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor teams

  Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities

  Managing Projects and Policies

  Advises team on debugging aids available for environments

  Prepares testing schedules and documents expected results

  Assists in the scheduling and maintenance of lower environments

  Assists in the defect management process

  Participates in the identification and monitoring of risks and issues

  Serve as a key member of the QE leadership team

  California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually.

  Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $190,154.00 annually.

  Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $116,205.00 to $209,169.00 annually.

  New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually.

  Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
