About Sr Permit Manager, Risk and Resiliency

  Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a highly reliable, scalable, and low-cost cloud platform that powers thousands of businesses in over 190 countries. AWS’ Data Center Supply Solutions Team works to deliver capacity supply to meet the needs of our growing customer base. We are a team of highly motivated professionals who enable the capacity needed to support AWS customers and optimize the largest cloud services company on earth!

The Sr Permit Manager role - based in either Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA – will be responsible for identifying all permitting requirements associated with the design, construction, and operation of datacenters in jurisdictions where AWS doesn’t have an existing infrastructure presence. The Permit Manager will be responsible for working with internal stakeholders (e.g. the AWS Design Engineering, Construction, and Environmental teams) to develop a permitting plan, ensure that plan is being executed effectively, and identifying and mitigating risks associated with the permitting process. The Permit Manager will work with external permitting experts and the AWS public policy teams to identify opportunities to expedite the permitting process. The Permit Manager will lead after-action reviews and identify lessons learned from completed projects that could make the permitting process more efficient for future projects.

  Key job responsibilities

  • Identification of all permits required to construct and operate datacenter infrastructure.

  • Coordinate between internal and external project development teams to develop a permitting plan and manage the execution of that plan, ensuring all partner teams are performing required actions at the appropriate time.

  • Together with public policy, engage with AHJs to identify opportunities to expedite permitting timelines.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the permitting process or permitting timelines

  • Where appropriate, engage and manage the work of permitting consultants and specialists.

  • Complete after-action reviews and identify opportunities for process improvement.
