JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Description Job Title: Senior Outfitting DesignerDepartment: Engineering Summary The Senior Outfitting Designer plans theform, look, or routing of equipment or systems within before fabricationor installation, typically through the depiction on a drawing or relateddocument. The Senior Designer has enhanced knowledge of habitability andoutfitting. Responsibilities - Create and revise 2D drawings andschematics, as well as supporting documents such as a bill of materialor change notice. - Review design interface with ship structure andother systems using CAD models and drawings to eliminate interferencesand verify form, fit, and function - Perform quality checks and provideapprovals for drawings or documents created by other team members -Review, interpret and track fulfillment of all functional andperformance requirements included in engineering design criteria -Perform verification of installation or fabrication by a physicalconfirmation via a shop or ship check - Develop written technicalinformation including procedures, tests, purchase specifications, andvarious reports by working with design originators. - Assist estimatingefforts through takeoffs or preliminary calculations - Comply withcustomer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations -Organize, track, and prepare submittal information for equipment andmaterials, including identification and nomenclature, dimensional data,utility requirements, purchasing data, and quantities - Confers withmanagement, production, and marketing staff to determine engineeringfeasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand for new andexisting products - Assist other departments with procurement,installation, commission, and turnover systems and equipment - Maintaina thorough knowledge of current and new techniques, practices,procedures, and applicable processes - Advise superiors of developmentsthat may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, orinterdepartmental relations - Interact with customers and vendors toeffectively communicate interface, requirements, status, and otherdetails - Conduct work safely and per established procedures and perpractices that increase efficiency - Other duties as assignedQualifications - In depth knowledge relating to the design of InsulationSystems, Joiner Bulkhead Systems, Sheathing, Ceiling Systems, DeckCovering Systems, Doors, Furniture, Galley Equipment, Gratings andBattens, and to a lesser extent, related plumbing, electrical, HVAC, andpiping - Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industryregulations, including T9640-AC-DSP- 010_HAB Habitability DesignCriteria and Practices Manual, OPNAV INST 9640.1C...
