We are looking for a Sr. R&D Manager for the water analysis instruments and water purification product lines within the Growth, Protection & Separation (GPS) business. This leader will be based in our Chelmsford, MA Center of Excellence and is focused on driving innovation in automated online analyzers, sensors, water purifiers and other analytical instruments used in industrial, research and general laboratory applications.
How will you make an impact?
The Senior Manager will serve as a strategic leader that will ensure the alignment, accountability and focus needed for effective execution of NPIs and sustaining projects. This leader will be called upon to support initiatives to deliver growth for GPS and should have a growth mindset. Most important of all is the acceleration and timely launch of all R&D projects. Beyond ensuring efficient project execution, this technical leader will help set Engineering, business, and technical strategy and influence the direction of product development projects in the R&D portfolio.
What will you do?
Work alongside other R&D team members and cross-functionally to develop electrical, mechanical and software systems and identify/implement projects for design optimization of GPS Products
Lead an experienced team across R&D and product optimization engineering.
Work with the various R&D functions to come up with different system architectures, do a cost-benefits analysis and identify efficient architecture from a product design implementation perspective.
Own and deliver commitments including on time product introductions with agreed upon cost targets with a focus on maximizing profitability.
Ensuring products are designed with a high level of quality while continuously focusing on reducing material costs.
How will you get here?
Education
A BS degree in Engineering, Chemistry or other relevant scientific field is required.
MS/PhD preferred.
Experience
6+ years of relevant industrial experience in design, sustaining, and transfer to manufacturing of products (hardware or consumables), with a consistent record of effectively delivering projects on time and budget.
3+ years of technical management and people leadership with experience in leading diverse, highly skilled R&D Engineering teams
Proven track record of leading electrical, systems and/or software design
Experience with digital signal processing, control systems, analytical equipment, electrochemistry, sensor technology, and analytical chemistry a plus
Experience in requirements management from definition through release to manufacturing and product ownership and, leading individual contributors through this process
Risk analysis experience along with mitigation protocols
Knowledge of regulations and safety requirements for Class I and II devices
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong cross-functional skills to navigate a matrixed organization to drive progress
Ability to work independently to initiate, take ownership of, and drive projects to completion
Ability to dissect problems with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Display technical leadership across the engineering or R&D team; ability to influence and collaborate across larger organizational networks
Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities
Superior presentation skills
