About Sr Manager, Program Management, Translation Services

  Description

  Translation Services is looking for a seasoned program manager to lead a team of 100+ language specialists to deliver high quality translation for Amazon.

  At Amazon, we are all Owners and leverage unique opportunities presented to us by owning everything from creating the ideas through their execution, and final hand-off to our customers. Translation Services (TS) team plays a key role in delivering best in class localized language experience to Amazon’s WW customers. We provide high quality translation leveraging Machine translation complemented by human to generate high quality translations.

  As a Program Manager in the TS team you’ll lead 100+ sized org to deliver translation, run quality initiatives, design and delivery productivity and cost reduction initiatives. You will lead and establish right org culture with a high bar and will be responsible for growth of your people. You will opportunities to disambiguate situations, overcome obstacles and drive balanced decision making for action, as well as deploy good judgement in managing competing and conflicting priorities. Its crucial to identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks.

  Your goal will be to deliver on high quality translation and productivity and cost reduction. This role requires provision of valuable insight to drive the continuous improvement in how we operate and deliver for our customers. Daily tasks include communication to Senior Management on status, risks and process/product changes, with flexibility and agility in your approach, and the set up and review of project plans to report on impacts of your team's initiatives according to established goals.

  An ideal candidate is someone who comes from language translation industry ( not mandatory though) with a high degree of ownership who likes experimenting and setting high standards with a roll up your sleeves attitude.

  Key job responsibilities

  Lead complex, large scale language translation program serving Amazon's WW customers.

  • Manage prioritization, roadmaps and resourcing

  • Build effective relationships with a diverse and physically widespread team, and lead them in achieving a common goal

  • Own program communication, accelerate progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, clearing blockers (e.g., path to green), escalating as appropriate

  • Partner with other program managers to secure resources, scope efforts, set project priorities, success metrics and milestones and deliver on-time

  • Utilize metrics to deep-dive into issues and uncover business-driving trends and patterns. Set-up mechanisms to audit and perform necessary course corrections where needed to meet business objectives

  • Manage post-translation quality standards maintenance plans (e.g., post-mortem, issue/ticket management, etc.) and look for opportunities to improve program quality and operational excellence

  • Drive alignment with senior leaders and key cross-functional partners from tech and non-tech teams

  Basic Qualifications

  Experience in team management

  Experience in program or project managementExperience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvementsExperience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  Preferred Qualifications

  Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
