Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them.

　　Our environment is global and complex with a variety of software and systems, including industrial machines and protocols. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery and receive of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying machine learning, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems. We are looking for a Hardware Development Engineer, capable of developing next-gen Industrial computer vision machines and automation solutions for AFT. This position will be exposed to the development of HW products design, optimization, diagnostics development and equipment design. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment.

　　In this role, you will design and develop solutions involving robotics, computer vision machine and industrial machine. You will participate in large-scale HW projects, supporting global deployments of equipment. This position will be filled with a candidate identified as a future leader, capable of driving AFT into the lead of Industrial HW machine design and we are looking for candidates who are up to the task.

　　Key job responsibilities

　　• Evaluate overall system design by crafting and conducting evaluation tests; applying knowledge of engineering fundamentals

　　• Work in computer vision of hardware design collaborating with inter disciplinary HW ME, platform, EE and SW teams

　　• Overview of design, test, and debug of complex hardware technologies for product development.

　　• Develop guidelines for validation strategies, manufacturing, system bring-up, and system evaluation.

　　• Learn, analyze, and work with new interfaces and subsystems, break down complex issues, and collaborate across cross-functional teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.

　　• Collaborate in design reviews between dev teams and development suppliers.

　　• Perform supplier’s capabilities study with others HDE and provide risk mitigation for identified gaps and schedule impact assessment.

　　• Analyze and evaluate EV and PV build data for system engineering build, presenting summary to the development team and adjusting test spec limits based on build analysis.

　　• Lead troubleshooting and deep diving into software, firmware and hardware problems (e.g. Debug wherever the problem leads and have the confidence to engage cross functional partners to support issue resolution.).

　　Involves supporting hardware development activities at manufacturing partner facilities and FCs

　　Basic Qualifications

　　Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures

　　Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Electrical, Mechatronics or similarly related engineering discipline

　　5+ years experience in hardware design

　　2+ years of experience leading engineers for design, qualification & production

　　Hands-on experience with design, system development and product integration

　　Hands-on experience with proto typing to proven concept

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　Logistics industry experience

　　Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions between Hardware, Software, and vendors teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work, and reach optimum system level trade-offs

　　Strong time and task management skills with consistent attention to detail

　　Experience designing and debugging tooled custom components

　　Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
