Our software engineers are responsible for the life cycle of the software they create, including development, testing, and operational support.An active Top Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain one, is desired but not required.RESPONSIBILITIES:Deliver highly reliable firmware for SpaceX designed hardwareWork with engineers across the department to develop new products, from prototype through production and flightTake ownership of your firmware products, including verification testing and writing documentationFollow the SpaceX flight software development process and write great firmware for manned spaceflightBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:5+ years of professional software development experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, math or other STEM discipline; OR 7+ years experience in software development in lieu of a degree2+ years experience developing for FPGA platformsPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:2+ years of experience writing firmware in VHDL2+ years developing firmware for Xilinx FPGA platforms using the Xilinx toolchainExperience with high speed serial links, including GbE, PCI-E or similarExperience developing and testing high reliability, safety critical, and fault tolerant systemsHardware debug experience, including familiarity with tools such as the oscilloscope, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer (SPI, CAN, Ethernet or similar)2+ years developing software for embedded systems in C or C++, or significant experience in another software languageFamiliar with common electronic components and comfortable reading circuit design schematics and contributing to hardware design discussionsExcellent leadership, communication and teamwork skillsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet critical deadlinesCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay Range:FPGA Engineer /Senior: $160,000.00 - $220,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
