Sr Engineering Specialist MET12 MonthsRichland WAMinimum Pay Rate: $68/hrPosition SummaryPosition is a Senior Engineer working in Materials Engineering Technology (MET). Executes assignments concerned with specialized or unique engineering and/or scientific requirements in material selection and corrosion assessments as a senior MET representative on the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) Project. Has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating MET assignments. This involves exploration of subject area and definition of scope, and may involve development of novel concepts, approaches, and solutions. Involves overseeing the welding, coatings, codes and standards, and material selection issues for WTP Engineering and working with Subcontractors and Construction to resolve emerging issues.Provides support to the design and execution of nuclear and chemical waste processing facility in collaboration with engineers responsible for procurement and design of systems and components required in the plant processes. Emphasis on selection of materials and resolution of materials and metallurgical issues arising during the design, procurement, and construction activities. Focused efforts involve addressing unanticipated issues that arise in advancing the design.This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.ResponsibilitiesMust have the ability to work independently, use engineering judgment, and devise new approaches to solving problems.Review of purchase orders and specific component specifications to ensure that they have adequately addressed the corrosion evaluation requirements and generic project requirements normally found in specifications controlled by the MET group of supplier documents against the requirements of the specification requirements identified in the procurement documents to ensure compliance with the technical requirements;Evaluation of specifications for specific pieces of equipment to ensure that they have correctly extracted generic MET requirements.Evaluation of supplier deviation requests to ensure compatibility with the MET requirements specified in the purchase order;Reviews the materials specified or proposed to ensure that the specified materials comply with the purchase order, component specification, and generic specification requirements and the materials are compatible with the process flow stream chemistry and operating information, materials selection guides, and the corrosion evaluations.Review of nonconformance reports, construction deficiency reports, and field change requests to ensure sound technical resolution of technical deficiencies.Review of component design as necessary to ensure that MET requirements have been successfully implemented by the supplier.Act as the subcontract technical coordinator for a subcontract with an ASME NQA-1 testing laboratory for the MET group.Evaluation of procurement documents against the applicable corrosion evaluations, generic project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and/or specifications, and design criteria database commitments to ensure MET requirements have been properly addressed.Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.Qualification and SkillsBasic QualificationsBS degree in Science or Engineering from an accredited university or college with 9 years of related experience.Must be able to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship.Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft office suite of products.Must be familiar with the interaction of process chemis
