Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Valves and Actuators Engineering department in Redmond, WA (Seattle area). You will join a team working on the development, fabrication, and test of valves, regulators, and actuators for space and defense applications. The Senior Engineer provides technical oversight and project leadership for in-house and supplier-based products. Projects include a broad range of liquid and gaseous propellant control components.
In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems. Our electric propulsion systems enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires.
Essential Functions
As a member of the Engineering staff, the Senior Engineer will work with minimal direction and exercise judgement in reaching objectives and executing assignments. The Senior Engineer will act as an external spokesperson for the organization on matters pertaining to program plans and objectives. They will serve as a technical authority and provide guidance and training to more junior personnel.
25% - Leads development and supports production and test of rocket engine propellant control components. Applies engineering and scientific concepts to challenges ranging from preliminary ideas through product life cycle.
25% - Communicates with external suppliers ensuring requirements are achieved on time and within budget.
20% - Collaborates with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to provide coordination of technical, schedule and cost solutions to team objectives.
20% - Uses engineering and scientific principles to prevent, investigate, and resolve hardware and process anomalies.
10% - Develops trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component-level test plans.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field is required. Five (5) years of experience in design, production, and test of electromechanical or fluid control components or an equivalent combination of postgraduate education and experience are required.
Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
Technical expertise in fluid mechanics, structural dynamics, electricity, and magnetism.
Understanding and use of analytical, design or process procedures pertinent to Rocket engine valve and actuator development.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications and develop planning and procedures for assembly and test.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; effective presentation and report writing skills.
Project skills in developing MS Project scheduling and Earned Value Measurement Systems is a plus. May require the use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and/or various computer systems.
Ability to operate effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated leadership skills are required.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $100,000 MIN - $186,000 MAX. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
