  Job Summary

  The Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) department is seeking a Ceramist/High-Temperature Materials Engineer to work in our Tucson, AZ facility. This department’s charter is to leverage material and process expertise throughout Raytheon. We are committed to excellence in supporting our customers and allies worldwide.

  Responsibilities to Anticipate

  Responsible for supporting all phases of the product life cycle (including design, development and production) for a multitude of programs.

  The analyses will cover a wide range of topics in ceramics and high-temperature materials from material synthesis, characterization, processing, and failure analysis.

  Work directly with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Operations Engineering, Systems Engineering, government customers and subcontracted suppliers from design concept through production.

  Work on several analyses in parallel and with other areas of expertise in materials, chemistry, metallurgy, coatings, and optics.

  Working with Component Engineers, Program Chief Engineers, and Failure Investigation Teams / Failure Review Boards (FIT / FRB). This may also require periodic presentations to these entities or even Program / Raytheon management.

  Develop methods to characterize material quality improvement collaboratively with internal and supplier team.

  Create and communicate strategy for material maturation.

  Basic Qualifications

  Bachelor’s of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering or Material Science and Five (5) years of experience in an engineering / manufacturing technology environment or Ph.D. in Ceramic Engineering or Material Science

  The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Experience in brazing and joining

  Experience with extreme temperature structural materials

  Familiarity with manufacturing processes for high temperature composites

  The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:

  The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
