Job Summary:
The Vail Resorts Finance Team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. We have created a fully centralized Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in our corporate headquarters near Boulder, Colorado, to support a growing company with over 40 resorts in four countries. Our FP&A organization brings best-in-class insight generation, data-driven decision-making support and financial management to Vail Resorts – the ski industry’s global leader.
The Sr. Director Mountain FP&A is based (flexible remote work eligible) in the company’s Broomfield, Colorado headquarters and will oversee a team that develops business insights to drive decision-making and commercial action for the Mountain Division of Vail Resorts. This includes financial planning, reporting, forecasting and analysis to support the strategic goals and drive results for Vail Resorts largest biggest segment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversight of Mountain Division financial consolidation team
Lead the FP&A efforts for the Mountain Division, including long term strategic planning, annual operating budgets, forecasting and insights on actual results.
Insight generation through independent analysis and cross-functional information to deliver insights and communicate with strong storytelling. The insights will synthesize and communicate key financial and business issues at an executive-level to drive decision-making with operational executives.
Process optimization – standardize weekly and monthly processes and consolidate insights to ensure consistent messaging and storytelling across deliverables. Ensure consistent processes, messaging and output across all deliverables. Leverage technology capabilities to deliver forecasts and budgets at scale.
Assess business opportunities and risks with a strong orientation to long-term enterprise value creation.
Create a high performing team and culture focused on value creation, delivering results, stakeholder influence and leadership development for career progression.
Develop and manage internal and external financial communications, including key business presentations to the Executive Team.
Finance oversight of Lift revenue and visitation:
Lead a team that will use deep analytical capabilities to strategically inform decision making for the largest line of business in the Company. They will be responsible for performing in-depth analysis including benchmarking and trending to inform enterprise visitation and lift revenue insights, budgeting and forecasting processes.
Analyze the key issues arising across our $1 billion lift revenue business and have a significant impact on decision making. They will use financial acumen, strategic synthesis and data-driven insights to advise senior executives and will gain great perspective on key business drivers, while working on some of our most interesting and challenging business questions.
Play a critical role as a leader in the Finance organization, bringing an enterprise-level perspective to support the strategic, talent and process improvement efforts across the Finance organization.

Skills and Qualifications:
Outstanding academic credentials; Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, graduate finance degree and/or CFA strongly preferred.
10+ years’ experience in leading teams with financial planning and analysis responsibilities
Outstanding analytical skills with ability to synthesize information, develop insights and communicate effectively in presentations and in person meetings.
Deep curiosity and passion for understanding and analyzing financial results in the context of creating shareholder value.
Excellent communication skills with significant experience working with CFO, senior executives and third party clients.
