Description

Our client in downtown Houston is looking for a Sr. Accountant for a contract-to-hire position. This role is 100% onsite. The ideal candidate would have used Excel is previous positions extensively, and be able to adapt to new ERP systems.

Job Duties:

Prepare and review monthly financial statements involving revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures.

Construct detailed yearly budgets and implement budget controls.

Monitor and corroborate financial activities and efficiently maintain manage financial software.

Perform complex reconciliations and financial analysis.

Support in the preparation of annual audit, tax return, and other regulatory filings.

Identify and implement improvements to processes and procedures to increase accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilities.

Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

Lead and supervise junior staff to ensure accuracy of accounting transactions.

Handle communication related to financial inquiries.

Expert use of Excel for data analysis, financial modeling, reporting and presentation.

Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required (MBA preferred)

CPA or other relevant certification is highly preferred.

5+ years’ experience in a senior accounting role.

Expert proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros etc.)

In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Accuracy and attention to detail.

Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.

Ability to direct and supervise.
