Job Description:The Speech Pathologist is responsible for screening,testing, evaluating, diagnosing and treating disorders of speech,language, cognitive communication, voice, and swallowing. In addition,this position is also responsible for consulting, educating and trainingpatients and their caregivers.
Scope
As an SLP you need to know how to:
Carry out speech therapy evaluations, program planning and treatments forhospital inpatients and outpatients.
Work closely with the Physical Medicine Director in coordinating speechtherapy activities with other hospital disciplines and in developing a programfor department expansion, community and physician marketing, budgetneeds, and department administration.
Work independently with limited contact with other Speech LanguagePathologists.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in speech pathology, required
Current license to practice speech-language pathology in the State ofColorado, required
Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) and achieve clinical competenciesby the required clinical internships, required
Strong Clinical Fellows with demonstrated competence may work undersupervision of a Speech Language Pathologist while completing the fellowshipyear
Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association,required by completion of the unit-specific orientation and before workingindependently
At least six (6) months of experience in the acute care setting,including experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies, preferred
